Come and find out ...
BCN offers a unique cycling club for all.
BCN's mission is to get more BAME people into cycling, but is not exclusive to only BAME riders.
We believe cycling is accessible to everyone!
Our motto's include
Each One, Teach One
No Helmet No Ride
At our Saturday Rides, led by BCN Ride Captains we ride from 8am till about 10am in Regent's Park.
We split into different groups depending on your experience, confidence and bike handling.
Introduce new riders and go through our Golden Rules.
Then the fun begins. The first few laps are warm up laps known as 'Chat Laps', to give the riders the opportunity to get to know each other or catch up. Then the Ride Captains will go through drills and skills e.g. pacelines and talk through technique, conserving energy and increasing efficiency.
The time flies by and going round in circles become interesting. You'll find yourself pointing out pot holes, calling out 'car back' and sitting on a riders wheel enjoying their draft in no time.
At the end we regroup in the outdoor café to debrief. There's a sea of BCN jerseys, tired legs and smiles. The endorphins and the justification for Why BCN? Why you got up so early? is apparent.
We try to capture the essence o a BCN Ride in our social media content, but you just have to come and find out...
WANT TO JOIN US, WELCOME!
FREE TRIAL - For 3 weeks
To become a BCN member is simple. Just attend a Saturday Club Ride hosted at Regent’s Park. Make yourself known during the Ride Captains Welcome when they ask 'Is anyone new to the group?'.
You will be given an induction and assigned to a group for your initial ride, to familiarise you with Group riding and BCN's calls and commands.
After the ride all groups regroup together at the outdoor café. Your Ride Captain and you will discuss your ride and experience. We have a group debrief and celebrate any achievements and first time riders.
Note: Your trail allows you to attend 3 consecutive rides. (Not including Epic Rides)
CAN I ATTEND EPIC RIDES OR HILL REPS?
We require riders to attend the BCN Saturday Rides to build up the skills, knowledge and awareness to ride safely in a group.
It is also important that riders are familiar with each other and the Ride Captains. This reduces the chance of accidents, collisions and helps reassures riders we are all riding as one network.
WHAT EQUIPMENT TO DO I NEED?
You can't participate in a ride if:
NO FRONT BRAKES
FIXED GEAR BIKES
UNDER 18 years old.
CAN I JOIN IF I'M NEW TO CYCLING?
YES! BCN was designed for you. BCN's aim is to create a space for people to come and learn and acquire skills to become more confident with riding.
Please come, we all started somewhere.
I AM AN EXPERIENCED CYCLISTS, CAN I JOIN?
YES You Can! Everyone can find a challenge at our Saturday group rides and an opportunity to learn; and if you are experienced then you can share your knowledge.
We have riders who race attend our rides.
BCN asks that you come with respect for the Ride Captains and the community.
Cycling is an inherently dangerous sport. The risks range from minor to serious injury and
